Dye-sublimation is a process in which specific inks are used with heat transfer paper and pressed onto a polyester based or coated surface. The heat transforms the ink into a gas and penetrates the surface being heated and pressed. This causes the inks to saturate into the tile or surface being imaged causing them to be very durable.

Design Squared is a family business. Steve, Karen and Erin Woody are the originators of the Design Squared concept. Erin, co-owner, has a degree in graphic design. She has worked as a graphic designer for 8 years. Karen, co-owner & Erin's mother, is a watercolor artist. Karen is an incredibly creative person with interests in quilt making, computer design and photography. Steve, co-owner & Erin's father, is also a highly creative person. He is skilled in woodworking and has created custom designs for tile projects as well as original tables and interior projects. Combined, Design Squared is able to create an endless combination of custom designs.

Lettering and Design

A simple design can be added , i.e. name and date, inspirational quote, or humorous anecdote.
There are several websites that can be a source for inspiration.

For more complex designing, an additional designing fee may be added.

Design Proof

A design proof will be emailed or mailed back for approval.

Color Adaptation

Because of the change from photograph onto tile medium, there may be some color variation from the original.
